Finding Joy in Your Workplace
Emily will discuss the effects of burnout, engagement and turnover on workplace joy; review the Institute for Healthcare’s framework for a practical path to nurture and restore joy in healthcare; and discuss and learn leadership strategies to engage staff and foster a culture of accountability
Emily K. Ward, BSN, RN, MBA, CCRN-K, is the Associate Chief Nurse Executive at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millikin University, her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Iowa, and is certified as an Acute/Critical Care Knowledge Professional. She is a member of multiple professional organizations: American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), Iowa Organization of Nurse Leaders (IONL), American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), and the Eastern Iowa Chapter of AACN. In addition, Ms. Ward serves as a state ambassador for AONE. Over the course of her career, she has given numerous local, regional, and national presentations on a variety of leadership topics. Among the awards received, a highlight was being named one of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses.
